14th Annual Celebration of Grand Canyon Art at Grand Canyon National Park


The Grand Canyon Conservancy announces the 14th Annual Grand Canyon Art Celebration at Grand Canyon National Park, which will take place September 10 through January 16. The event provides a unique experience for visitors and a venue for talented artists, as well as fundraising for an arts venue on the South Shore.

Since 2009, the annual Grand Canyon Art Celebration has invited participating artists to paint “en plein air” for a week in the national park. Works created by artists during this period are displayed alongside pieces produced in the studio at the historic Kolb Studio, located at the edge of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim in Grand Canyon Village. The exhibition-sale which extends over four months.

Grand Canyon Art Celebration Schedule:

Open Air at the Grand Canyon: from Saturday September 10 to Friday September 16
Various locations along the South Rim, Grand Canyon National Park
Most artists prefer to paint in the morning and evening when the canyon is busiest.

Artist Paint Out: Friday, September 16, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Between Verkamp Visitor Center and Thunderbird Lodge, Grand Canyon National Park
Artists will participate in a “Paint Out” where visitors will have the opportunity to watch artists interpret the ever-changing light and shadow, stunning landforms and vibrant colors of the Grand Canyon. This event is open to the public and completed paintings will be available for purchase on site.
