Black Mountain Elementary School (BMES), located in the Cave Creek Unified School District, has been named one of forty-four public schools in Arizona to receive the coveted A + School of Excellence Award.
“The A + School of Excellence ™ Award highlights the positive stories and successes that occur in public schools,” said AEF Executive Director Kim Graham. “The application and evaluation process for this program is thorough and rigorous. We applaud these schools for exceeding expectations in meeting the needs of their students and for being generally successful despite the many challenges facing the educational community statewide.
BMES offers its students theater, dance, music and art. Many of these programs are only available to those who are fortunate enough to afford them. BMES believes our students are special and deserve the best. We believe that we must develop the child as a whole, through advanced academics and the arts. Our students will have community spirit and be globally prepared in large part because of these amazing programs that we have built.
BMES Principal Matt Owsley said, “It’s great when others, especially administrators of award-winning schools, recognize your school as one of the best in Arizona. We are delighted to receive the well-deserved honor our staff have deserved through their hard work and dedication to the advanced educational opportunities and distinguished programs that make BMES what it is. This prestigious award recognizes the exceptional work of teachers, staff, students, family and the BMES community. I am so proud to be a part of something so special.
Superintendent Burdick said, “We are delighted to see the incredible school community that BMES has nurtured, honored with the prestigious AEF A + School of Excellence Award. BMES staff, students, PTOs and families focus all of their energy and resources on students to make their educational experiences rewarding and interactive. Congratulations, Bobcats!
