Beacon UU Service: We Are UUs: An Occasional Series “So It Goes: Kurt Vonnegut’s Humanism” June 5 — Beacon Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 510 N. Leroux St., Flagstaff. (928) 779-4492. 10-11 a.m., In a 1980 talk at the First Parish Unitarian Church in Indianapolis, famed novelist Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. said, “Doesn’t God give dignity to everyone? No, in my opinion. Giving dignity, the kind of dignity that is of earthly use anyway, is something that only people can do. Or don’t. Throughout his life (including a harrowing chapter as a prisoner of war in Dresden), he channeled his evolutionary free-thinking philosophy into such notable works as Slaughterhouse-Five, Cat’s Cradle and Breakfast of Champions. This morning, we’ll explore the lasting legacy of this self-proclaimed “Christ-loving atheist” and his trademark phrase, “So it’s okay.” Reverend Robin Landerman Zucker, preaching, with worship associate Mark James and music by Bailey Cunningham, Jason Drahos, Kim Angelo, Anne Wittke and Barry Malpas. https://go.evvnt.com/1174239-0.
